Walk-In Thursday is a day our shop dedicates for our clients who might not want to wait for an appointment, just want "something pretty small," or have a spur-of-the-moment tattoo idea!
Here are some FAQs about Walk-In Thursdays:
1. "When will *insert artist* have walk-ins next?"
Walk-Ins are EVERY THURSDAY with all of our artists. We post about walk-ins on Wednesdays, and in the caption of those posts will be the artists taking walk-ins. The only reason one of our artists would not take walk-ins is for a prior commitment.
2. "I wanted to get this really small tattoo; how much will it be?"
Pricing varies depending on both the artist and the detail of the tattoo. However, our shop minimum is $100, which means even if the tattoo takes 5 minutes, and still less than a full hour, it will be $100. reminder, we are cash preferred.
Walk-ins are capped at two hours per person, or roughly a 6x6-inch tattoo. If you think your idea might be too big, or you just want to make sure we can take your design on a walk-in, feel free to message the shop on social media or email us at papermoontattooco@gmail.com with your idea!
3. "What time do walk-ins start?"
On a Walk-In Thursday, we will let everyone in the doors at 10 a.m. If you're the first person in line for an artist, we'll get you started around 10:30 a.m. If you're not the first person, we'll give you a time slot to come back later in the day. We will only accept walk-ins until the artist is full for the day, which means they have clients running until we close.
4. "This is my first time at PMTC; should I do anything before my time slot?"
Whether this is your first tattoo or your tenth, we are here to answer any concerns you have about getting tattooed. There is no "stupid" question before, during, or after your tattoo!
Prior to getting tattooed, we encourage you to eat something. Your blood sugar will drop when you start to get tattooed, so we want to make sure you've eaten something.
When you're filling out paperwork prior to your time slot, we will take a photocopy of a valid photo ID. This can be a driver's license, identification card, passport, etc. It cannot be a Penn State student ID!
Also, we encourage you to adjust your wardrobe depending on where you're getting tattooed. If you're getting a tattoo on your leg, you're welcome to bring along shorts and change in our bathrooms.
5. "My friend is getting tattooed, but they couldn't wait in line. Can I fill out paperwork for them now?"
To reserve a walk-in time slot, you must be present in the shop. We will not accept your appointment if someone else's name is on the walk-in form. We will not reserve a time slot over the phone. This just makes it fair for those that are present, ready to be tattooed!
6. "I can't get tattooed right now, can I get a slot for later in the day?"
As much as we try to cater to everyone's schedule, we book walk-ins in the order they are received. If one of the artists is booked up to 1 p.m., the next appointment would be scheduled immediately after. This is to give everyone on Walk-In Thursdays the chance to get tattooed without the artist losing out on time. Our artists' time is their money, so we try to maximize their availability!
If you have other commitments that require you to arrive at a later time, we might not be able to take you that day. We would not give you a slot later in the day if there was no one in between. Our reasoning for this is that we want to fit as many people as possible on our walk-in days, so it isn't fair for everyone to reserve a slot for one person that could conflict with another person being able to get a slot.
